Program Abstract: Effective student engagement is a challenge in online nursing courses. Written interaction is a common practice in online education, rather than being face-to-face in the classroom. Nursing faculty must be empowered as academic leaders to be creative and connect with students to increase engagement and create a more satisfying learning environment. Incorporating digital pedagogy in online education is an innovative method to increase student engagement. Digital educational technology added to the nursing classroom, such as video introductions or weekly video instructions, creates a more engaging learning environment for students in online education. This innovative tool creates a visual and more personal connection between the faculty and the student. Nurse educators have a significant role in using innovative digital tools to help expand the dimensions of student engagement for future nursing students.
