Donna Beers, Ph.D., is Professor of Mathematics at Simmons University in Boston. An algebraist, she teaches a wide range of courses, from calculus and linear algebra to modern algebra, plus special topics courses on graph and network theory and the mathematics of machine learning. Empowering students to use mathematics to solve real-world problems that matter to them inspires her teaching as does her desire to increase the retention of UREG, women, identity minorities, and first-generation students in STEM in order to increase the diversity of the STEM workforce. Donna Beers is an active member of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). She has served as chair and governor of the Northeastern Section. She has also served on numerous committees of the MAA and editorial boards of the American Mathematical Monthly, Mathematics Magazine, and PRIMUS. Her professional service includes extensive service as outside consultant for departmental program reviews in the mathematical sciences
