Nicole Retland is Associate Faculty in the School of Leadership Studies at Fielding Graduate University. Currently, she serves as the Director of Operations for the Center for the Advancement of STEM Leadership (CASL). In addition to microbiology, her research interests include health disparities and STEM leadership. Before joining CASL, she was the Director of Howard University’s Office of Research Development. She is also an author and editor of Higher Education in a Changing World, published in 2023 with her mentor, Dr. Orlando L. Taylor. She acknowledges that her educational journey, which includes matriculation at both a predominantly white university and a Historically Black University, has influenced her approach to equity in STEM. Navigating these vastly different academic environments drives her to create spaces that prioritize growth and well-being.
