Jennifer Gibson is a Lecturer of Mathematics Education in the College of Science and Mathematics at James Madison University. She teaches math content courses for prospective PreK-8 teachers, in which she concentrates on conceptual understanding rather than rote procedures. Her research centers on the development and continued support of fraction content knowledge of prospective PreK-8 teachers as well as on prospective teachers’ mathematical mindsets and dispositions. Her previous position as K-12 Supervisor of Mathematics for Rockingham County Schools informs her teaching and her service, particularly her focus on the recruitment, retention, and mentorship of secondary teachers.
