Dr. Laina Lockett is the STEM Education specialist at George Mason University (GMU) in Fairfax, VA. She joined the Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning after finished her PhD at Rutgers University in Ecology & Evolution. She currently teaches with the Biology department at GMU, but also serves as a visiting instructor at Pratt Institute in their Math and Science department. While at Rutgers, she served as a teaching assistant and teaching fellow for multiple departments and programs and was part of the Rutgers Academy for the scholarship of teaching and learning. Currently, her work focusses on helping faculty revise their courses in the age of artificial intelligence, hosting faculty development workshops for STEM faculty and graduate students, and recognizing faculty for their excellent teaching.
