Isobel Cobb is a graduate student pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching - as an NSF Noyce Scholar - in the James Madison University College of Education in pursuit of secondary science teaching licensure. Since arriving at JMU, Isobel has been engaged in research as a member of Dr. Joseph Harsh’s biology education group and Dr. Steven Cresawn’s lab, creating computational tools for the genomic analysis of viruses. Isobel has worked with the JMU BIO HHMI Inclusive Excellence team for over a year to assess and advance project initiatives. After finishing her M.A.T., Isobel plans to go on to a master’s program in bioinformatics before beginning a teaching career at both the secondary and college levels while continuing STEM education research in some capacity.
