Dr. Joe Harsh is an Associate Professor in the Biology Department at James Madison University with expertise in biology education research. Dr. Harsh's research focuses on understanding student experiences, performance, and engagement in postsecondary science with a particular focus on the impact of undergraduate research, the development of students’ data visualization skills, how students navigate scientific challenges and failure, and the design and implementation of teaching and learning practices that support students of diverse backgrounds. Dr. Harsh is also the Associate Director for the JMU Biology's HHMI Inclusive Excellence project.
