Mikelene Ray, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychology at Alverno College, Chair of the Department of Psychology and Social Work and Chair of the Council for Student Assessment. She teaches Statistics and Probability, Research Methods, and Neuroscience elective courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She also advises doctoral students in the Education Leadership Program (EdD). She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology with a focus in Neuroscience from Virginia Commonwealth University. As part of an NSF-HSI grant to support STEM education at Alverno College, Dr. Ray explores the impact of community programming on student retention, sense of belonging, identity and interest in graduate school and STEM related employment. Her research interests also include understanding how individuals learn and use statistics, the physiological processes involved in traumatic brain injury and Parkinson’s disease.
