Pat Burnett serves as associate professor at Whatcom Community College and holds an MS degree in physics teaching from Northern Illinois University and a BS degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois. He has taught engineering at community colleges in Washington state since 2005. His teaching and research interests include facilitating connections between K12 and early engineering coursework to identify the needs of the students as they enter higher education. He is currently co-PI for two NSF grants: “Building educational theory through enacting reforms (BETTER) in STEM” and “Preparing Early Engineers through Context, Connections and Community”. Pat has been a serving member of the Washington Council on Engineering and Related Technical Education since 2006.
