Dr. Keva Yarbrough has over 25 years of experience in higher education, school administration, and urban K-12 schools. She earned an Ed.D. in educational leadership and policy analysis from Clark Atlanta University, a M.S.T. in mathematics education and B.S. in mathematics from Clark Atlanta University. She has worked at Saint Leo University, North Carolina Central University, Herzing University, DeVry University, and South College teaching courses in mathematics, statistics, teacher education, career development, critical thinking, and data analysis to traditional and non-traditional students.
A former urban school teacher, higher education administrator, and advocate on educational reform, Dr. Yarbrough has been a private tutor in mathematics since she was sixteen years old. During her tenure at American Intercontinental University, she was nominated Faculty of the Quarter. In 2004, she was identified as Teacher of the Year at Saint Leo University’s Atlanta Center. In 2010, Dr. Yarbrough became the Academic Campus Dean at Strayer University’s Roswell Campus in Georgia. During her tenure, she established an academic intervention program which helped students improve their performance in mathematics and English composition. Her extensive research in teacher testing and educational policy has deemed her an expert in teacher education for the HBCU/ETS Collaborative Initiative on closing the achievement gap in teacher testing.
In addition to mathematics and teacher education, her interests include educational policy, testing and assessment, adult education, and critical race theory.
