Cordelia M. Brown, Ph. D. is a Senior Lecturer in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Auburn University. She has served as the past Director of the Engineering Academic Excellence Program in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University. Currently, she teaches Digital Logic Circuits and Embedded System Design. Prior to her appointments at Auburn University, she was a faculty member in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the School of Engineering Education at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.
Dr. Brown is passionate about mentoring students at the graduate, undergraduate, high school and middle school levels. Dr. Brown is involved in several activities targeted at increasing the participation of underrepresented students in the STEM disciplines on the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels as mentor, panelist, facilitator, technical competition judge, and recruiter for various programs. Over the course of her career has co-initiated, developed, and co-directed an eMentoring program and engaged in efforts to address retention and recruitment issues in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education. She is co-PI on the National Science Foundation sponsored Collaborative Approaches among Scientists and Engineers Research Experiences for Undergraduates (CASE REU) at Auburn University.
She was born in Camden, Alabama and reared in Tuskegee, Alabama. She completed her B. S. degree in Electrical Engineering at Tuskegee University. She earned her M. S. degree and Ph. D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
