Dr. Sherri Briggs is a Project Coordinator for the Center for the Advancement of Students and Alumni. Her role is to assist students interested in pursuing a post-graduate degree in STEM fields through initiatives such as the Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC), Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST), and Sloan Fellowship programs. She is available to answer any student or alumni questions concerning graduate school and the application process.
Dr. Briggs received her B.S. in Biology from The Fort Valley State University as a Presidential, Peach State LSAMP, and James H. Porter Scholar. In 2014, she graduated with her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Georgia as an Alfred P. Sloan and Michael A. Johnson Graduate Fellow specializing in finding a treatment for substance use disorder marked by persistent and maladaptive memories.
Along with her interest in Neuroscience and research, Dr. Briggs’s passion has always been to ensure that students from marginalized populations are empowered and equipped to enter competitive academic and professional STEM fields. Dr. Briggs aims to ensure that GSU students thrive in whichever STEM endeavor they choose!
