STEM Student Transfer Manager
Miami Dade College - Wolfson Campus
Miami, Florida, United States
Mr. Logan Saucer, M.S., is the Student Transfer Manager for the Title III (HSI-STEM) grant known as STEM Legacy at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Wolfson Campus (Miami, FL). Previous to this role, Mr. Saucer began his career with Miami Dade College as a Recruitment & Retention Specialist for the MSEIP grant known as STEM Beyond at MDC’s Padrón Campus. Mr. Saucer is a graduate of The Honors College at Florida International University, having earned a Master of Science degree in Geosciences (focus on geoscience education) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science (2nd major in Interdisciplinary Studies, minor in Geography). While at FIU, Logan was involved with the STEM Transformation Institute and participated in ComPASS (Communication Protocol for Accountability & Strategic Support), the university’s effort to leverage institutional student success data to drive improvement initiatives. Through STEM Legacy, Mr. Saucer channels his passion for broadening participation in STEM and improving success outcomes in related coursework by engaging underrepresented, low-income STEM students at Wolfson Campus and connecting them with needed support structures: discipline-specific transfer advising, peer mentorship, undergraduate research and internship opportunities, and a career competency-based workshop series. Through these experiences, Mr. Saucer aims to prepare students for achieving their goals post-MDC. Additionally, Mr. Saucer remains connected to the earth and environmental science disciplines as adjunct faculty in the Department of Natural Sciences, Health, & Wellness at Wolfson Campus. Mr. Saucer offers coursework leveraging the high-impact practice of the Global Sustainability & Earth Literacy Studies (GSELS) framework, a curriculum enhancement in partnership with MDC’s Earth Ethics Institute. Mr. Saucer is happy to connect with conference attendees to share additional information and learn more about best practices from across the nation. Please feel free to say "hi" in-person, send an e-mail to LSaucer@mdc.edu, or call (305) 237-3508.
