The UNIDOS Center for HSI Community Coordination: Amplifying and Coordinating the Work of Hispanic Serving Institutions

Program Abstract: Recently selected for funding by the National Science Foundation, the UNIDOS Center for HSI Collaboration leverages the collective strength of HSIs by coordinating and amplifying their efforts, fostering collaboration, and encouraging innovation within the HSI community, particularly in STEM and STEM education. UNIDOS is a collaborative effort led by HSIs for HSIs, with a leadership team of five HSIs that reflect the rich diversity of the communities they serve. The Center is developing the infrastructure to generate and disseminate new knowledge, successful practices, and effective design principles arising from work at HSIs. This session will present the theoretical foundations for the Center as a national backbone organization and the current plans for reaching the Center's goals. We will facilitate a discussion on the needs of HSIs and the students they serve and seek feedback from participants on how the Center can best support the national HSI community.
