Program Abstract: Developing Inclusive Learning Environments in STEM Higher Education Creating inclusive learning environments in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) higher education is crucial for empowering historically marginalized groups and fostering a genuine sense of belonging. This goal requires cultivating intentional, comprehensive, and socioculturally competent STEM education and training. Such intentionality can promote more equitable learning opportunities and engage the diversity that enriches educational experiences for all students. Inclusive environments enable students and faculty to learn from each other's identities and backgrounds, foster mutual understanding, and create a collaborative community to address real-world challenges. This facilitated discussion will allow participants to examine and explore research on developing inclusive environments in STEM spaces and examine the best policies and practices for improving inclusivity. This facilitated discussion will invite participants to examine new ways for enhancing and promoting inclusive environments in higher education.
